maybe if the US government wasn't so cagey about declassifying ALL the documents on this horrific event, there would be fewer conspiracy theories. As long as even 1 document remains classified, doubt is going to remain. Frankly, like UFOs, I think the government finds some sick enjoyment out of these conspiracy theories and is in no hurry to let all the information out

Aren't the documents that relate to the claims made by Landis already available? If so, then it's yet further proof that facts and rational arguments do not kill conspiracy theories.

Martin, there are no documents that relate to how the bullet ended up on the hospital gurney. It is assumed that it fell out of Connally's pants leg. However, when Landis was interviewed twice in the days after the event, he never mentioned a bullet. Hard to imagine that "trauma" caused him forget that detail. None of the other 21 SS Agents made such interview mistakes. But the other, perhaps main issue is how the various current writers seize on the supposed "pristine" bullet (whoever found it) and regurgitate a theory that is over fifty years old and disproved by numerous ballistic and forensic experts. I just don't see the "news" here.

I guess I meant the relevant witness interviews and autopsies are in the public domain so there's nothing to declassify which could shed further light on this 'theory'. I've noticed time-and-time again that evidence that obliterates an exciting unreliable narrative gets ignored. Here in the UK, I've just debunked a story that at least nineteen national and local papers ran with ridiculous headlines three weeks ago. None of them are going to publish corrections (even though their readers would probably love it). Anyhow, your piece is a great piece of debunking. Thanks.

I am also in favor of transparency. BUT I've reviewed many of the recently released docs, and to me, the secrecy over them was completely warranted. I have been astounded at the information the agencies have now been pressured to release, which consists almost entirely of the names (and even addresses) of sources, undercover informants, and federal agents. One document lists dozens of organized crime informants - some of whom are still alive - and their whereabouts. These informants were promised protection for life! Insanity. Nothing in the new documents pertain to a revelation about the actual assassination.

this story has to do with SPYS or Intelligence or CounterIntelligence here in the US or overseas?

Does anyone here have any real storys about active Intelligence matters in the US? Since Russia

is so HOT does anyone have any information on maybe what Russian Intelligence is doing here?

Howard
