The Proud Boys Are Back
The White-power militia poses a challenge to the FBI and Homeland Security
You can’t keep a Proud Boy down.
Take Daniel Goodwyn, a web designer from San Francisco and a proud member of the violence-obsessed organization of young-ish white men. Now 34, Goodwyn was sentenced in 2023 to 60 days in jail and a year of supervised probation, which is set to end in August. The probation included monitoring his online habits, suspended for a while after the ruling was challenged. A federal judge slapped it back on this week because he was back rabble-rousing on the web.
Elsewhere, Proud Boys are metastasizing in far flung chapters, ostentatiously showing their colors at Trump events, and even running for local offices.
