Child sex cases took them to 'places most people could never imagine even exist'

Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger worked in very dark places. Serving a warrant in the dark on a suspected child abuser was just one of them. The agents virtually lived in darkness as members of an FBI task force investigating sex crimes against childen. They spent countless hours in brightly lit cubicles peering into world wide web’s dark and sadistic world of child sex traffickers, pornographers and molesters.

But on Tuesday they were called out into another corner of the darkness, on a street in Sunrise, Fla., and it killed them. Three other agents were injured in the action that ended with the still-unidentified perpetrator dead.
