I am sure too. All European countries have to deal with this. I assume in the US they are all up in Mar-a-lago as Trump seems an easy target for FSB and GRU agents with people like Gabbard and Patel in charge.
My daughter was upset when I suggested one of the Russians in her class at Uni in Germany was one. She disliked at first, as did her friend who is the daughter of a high up German diplomat, and grudgingly had to accept that the Ukrainian guys in their friendship group included him in. He seems to have toned down. Then a Brazilian friend of hers was going to go to Russia on Spring break with him and we all counseled her not to. In fact, so did her parents, and she ended up not going. He had been asked if he was worried about having to do military duty and he claimed that his parents were too connected for that to happen. That and that he relentlessly pursued the diplomat's daughter made me suspicious of him. He talked a lot about her father being a diplomat, whereas my daughter did not give it a thought.
One needs to be more cautious these days. There are some decent Russians who deserve respect, but I'm suspicious of this one, esp with the reported family krysha.
Sure. I did not tell her he was, I just said, after reading a German article on how Putin's regime pressures Russians abroad to do their bidding like small acts of sabotage that grow, or getting into places and taking pictures.
Can you imagine someone in those circumstances being invited to a diplomats daughter's house and then snooping while supposedly using the bathroom? I did not say he was, just that I was suspicious, but that upset my daughter to think that someone she was socializing with could be acting as a spy. He is no longer in her life.
He sounds like an ideal candidate to be a part-time agent, esp when he goes on about how connected his parents are to keep him out of the Russian military. That's already a good point of leverage for the Russian services. I'm glad he left your daughter's circle.
Wonder how many Russian FSB and GRU spies Hungary will be kicking out when Magyar takes over.
Am sure they will have some left over. Hopefully they just leave the dumb ones.
