Exclusive: Private Probe of Alleged Epstein—Mossad Links

Hedge funds connected to Epstein enlist a former federal agent to probe the late sex trafficker's mysterious wealth, who suspects Israel may have provided secret funds for spying ops.

SpyTalk has learned that Trump-friendly moneyed parties are pursuing evidence of the late financial adviser Jeffrey Epstein’s possible connections to Israeli intelligence through his now jailed girlfriend and former sex trafficking manager Ghislaine Maxwell. 

As with many other parties who have been scrutinizing the hazy sources of Epstein’s wealth, they’ve hired seasoned investigators to pursue a theory that the late, high rolling socialite and pedophile was at least partly bankrolled by Mossad to collect derogatory information on leading political figures, who include, of course Trump. One investigator shared bare bones details of the probe with SpyTalk on condition of anonymity, and said he did not have permission from his “hedge fund” employers to divulge their identity.

The investigator is pursuing the theory, so far without any evidence, that Donald Trump was blackmailed indirectly by Israeli spies through Epstein—ie., that he's been a victim, not an enabler, of the late sex trafficker. That would certainly fit the president’s longtime narrative that he’s been a victim of a shadowy “deep state” that has conspired against him since at least the 2016 elections. This past week his director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, accused Obama administration officials of ginning up a phony story that Russia helped Trump win the White House, despite plenty of evidence to the conrary. Trump escalated the issue to “treason,” and Gabbard said she was making a criminal referral to the Justice Department on Obama and his high ranking national security officials.

Experts cited four official investigations, including one headed by Secretary of State Marc Rubio when he chaired the Senate Intelligence Committee, that all agreed Russia had sought to harm Hillary Clinton’s candidacy and sway the election Trump’s way. Critics called the moves by Gabbard and Trump a baseless accusation designed to deflect attention from new evidence of Trump’s longtime friendship with Epstein.

Complicating the Trump narrative is the fury of his MAGA world devotees over the administration’s refusal to release all the Epstein files, a promise that the president had often made, and which key officials like his Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel and his FBI deputy Dan Bongino embraced—until the past few weeks. Bongino threated to quit over Bondi’s statement that she didn’t have Epstein client files afterall after saying they were on her desk.

Speculation about a coverup exploded this week when the administration announced that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, previously Trump’s personal lawyer, would be interviewing Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, now serving a 20-year sentence on charges related to sex trafficking minors, in a Florida prison. Blanche interviewed Maxwell for several hours over two days but did not disclose the subjects of their discussion, including a possible pardon.

Enter Mossad

Maxwell’s late father Robert, the British publishing tycoon, was long understood  to be an asset of the Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence agency. After he died in a mysterious yachting accident in 1991, he was buried in the Mount of Olives cemetery adjacent to Jerusalem’s Old City, with several high ranking Israeli officials in attendance. Ronen Bergman, a veteran New York Times correspondent and intelligence expert based in Israel, referred to Maxwell as one of Mossad’s “oldest sources” in his authoritative 2018 book, Rise Up and Kill First: the Secret History of Israel's Targeted Assassinations.

According to an unverified report in Robert Maxwell, Israel's Superspy: The Life and Murder of a Media Mogul, a 2003 biography by British auther Gordon Thomas, Maxwell is alleged to have distributed a bugged version of PROMIS, a Justice Department case management software, to “a plethora of national governments and global financial institutions that enabled mass spying by the government of Israel.” According to the same biography, Maxwell also allegedly employed John Tower, chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services in the 1980s, to facilitate the sales of the bugged Israeli version of the PROMIS software to the Sandia and Los Alamos national labs, two of the most important nuclear research and national security facilities in the United States.

“I have some people who think that Epstein had a close connection financially with Robert Maxwell through his daughter,” the investigator told SpyTalk. “They are really spooked by the fact that Jeffrey Epstein came up with a lot of wealth that doesn't really hold water in terms of how he did it. They suspect that his unexplained hedge fund wealth has a big connection to money that was tied to Robert Maxwell.”  Upon his death, investigators for Maxwell’s creditors discovered he had looted the pension funds of his media properties.

Father and Daughter

The investigator, a former senior government agency employee, speculated without evidence that Robert Maxwell enlisted Epstein, possibly through his daughter, to collect damaging intelligence for Mossad on the many powerful American politicos and other influential people Epstein was friends with—like Trump, the bigtime real estate developer who had a demonstrated fondness for very young women. And the Mossad would have paid handsomely for that, he opined.

“He would've been a good source of information to some foreign intelligence agency,” not just the Mossad, the investigator said of Epstein. One problem with that theory is that Ghislaine Maxwell didn’t meet Epstein until after her father’s death in 1991, according to a deposition she gave in 2016. In court, federal prosecutors said Ghislaine “Maxwell first helped Epstein in his sexual exploitation of underage girls in 1994, with Annie Farmer, then 16, alleging she was lured to Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico,” according to reports. Hundreds more girls were vicitimized by Epstein and Maxwell thgrough the decades.

Last week former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett firmly dismissed allegations that Epstein worked for Israeli intelligence services, calling it “a vicious wave of slander and lies” against Israel. “As a former Israeli prime minister, with the Mossad having reported directly to me, I have 100% certainty” that Epstein had no ties to Mossad or any other Israeli agency, he said.
