I'm at a loss. I can't find anything good to say about Spy Talk that hasn't already been said in this article, except I don't know what I would do without it.
In the middle of a long, late NPR recording session in a Taipei hotel, the thin necklace of pearls I was wearing suddenly snapped—a childhood Communion gift from my father, who died of cancer when I was sixteen. I was trying to hold it together, but very upset. Dingues got down on his knees and helped me recover every single last one of those tiny pearls before we resumed recording. I will never forget such kindness when so many of my colleagues were...not such gentlemen. Please tell Dingues I still have the memory...and the pearls.
If only you’d realize that Yuri Nosenko was a false defector-in-place in Geneva in June 1962 and a rogue physical defector to the U.S. in February 1964.

Well now I’m gobsmacked, Carl. Especially coming from someone with your credentials, it’s deeply appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi Dinah. I just passed along your comment to John. I’m sure he will be thrilled.

I assess, with high confidence, that you will greatly enjoy Spy Talk -- it is a 'must-read' for anyone interested in what's going on in the IC

Top tier, all of you. Congrats Jeff on such an outstanding crew giving us all the lowdown on what’s actually going on.
The same John Dinges who produced my Taiwan reporting for NPR? I enjoyed working with him very much,

Yep. We've been close friends since, oh, maybe 1978 or so...
I might have met up with him again with you or Manning in DC in 87…? I vaguely recall a restaurant dinner…
